ECOSYSTEM PONDS
ECOSYSTEM PONDS DESIGNED AND INSTALLED IN THE GYMPIE, SUNSHINE COAST & MORETON BAY REGIONS
Aquascape Ecosystem Ponds
Whether you want to keep native fish like the Australian Rainbow Fish or Exotics like Goldfish or Koi Carp, the presence of a well designed fish pond creates a beautiful space for low-maintenance pets and will bring major "Wow!" factor to any living space.
Ecosystem Ponds are constructed with an EPDM rubber waterproof membrane and are built with boulders, pebbles and aquatic plants. These are usually designed with a natural looking waterfall with plenty of habitat for the fish in the form of fish caves, aquatic plants and maybe even a log or stump. All Ecosystem Ponds designed and installed by United Waterscapes exclusively incorporate Aquascape, Inc. Ecosystem Pond products.
Ecosystem Ponds are natural looking fishpond installations that are naturally filtered with pebbles and aquatic plants.
PROJECT REVISITED: ECOSYSTEM POND - NEWCASTLE EAST, NSW
Here is a bespoke little ecosystem pond that I designed and installed in 2019. It was a pleasure to build and it has been a tranquil oasis for our customer! The pond is an Aquascape Ecosystem pond, 3m x 3m with a 4m stream. It is currently the home of 2 x koi fish.

How an Aquascape Ecosystem Pond Works
If you are looking for a natural looking fish pond you really cannot go past an Aquascape Ecosystem Pond. Designed and specified by Aquascape, Inc. in the United States, the components and associated training that come with these products make for a simple water feature construction that is naturally beautiful and easy to maintain.
The main components that set these systems apart from other products and methods is the Signature Series Skimmer and Biofalls filters. The skimmer is uniquely designed to house the pond pump and creates a suction effect across the surface of the pond, drawing surface debris such as leaves, twigs and uneaten fish food into the skimmer basket for collection. The pump is separated from the rest of the pond by a pre-filter foam mat that removes any additional debris that is not caught in the skimmer basket. This system safe-guards the pump from solid debris that could clog up and burn out the pump.
The Signature Series BioFalls filter is an up-flow biological filter that also doubles as a header tank for a waterfall or stream system. Water is pumped from the skimmer to the to of the system, where it is passed through several filter matts and bio-balls before it is returned to the pond in a beautiful waterfall.
Some of the other reasons we subscribe to the Aquascape Ecosystem Pond method of construction include:
*The use of boulders, river pebbles and aquatic plants means the entire pond compliments the filtration system with surface area for bacteria habitat and processes.
*Aquascape, Inc. has other great products such as automatic water treatment dosing systems and lighting that work seamlessly with the main components.
*There is no other system available that is so simple to install, with low risk of leaks and is intuitively designed by pond builders, for pond builders.
United Waterscapes can build you a beautiful, unique Aquascape, Inc. Ecosystem Ponds for a stunning and natural fish pond in your backyard.
How an Aquascape Ecosystem Pond is installed
Putting the components of an Aquascape Ecosystem Pond together is the easy part, the real challenge is around the artistry and expertise of boulder placement, pebble, aquatic plant edge work and waterfall design for a natural looking fish pond.
This video by Aquascape, Inc. shows the installation of a small pond. The process and concept is similar for all natural fish pond installations.
